COVD Las Vegas

So as some of you may have seen on Facebook,
I just got back from Las Vegas!
It was an awesome time,
but if y'all were wondering,
it was more "work" than "play."
However, this is the kind of "work" I love.
I attended the College of Optometrists in Vision Development
Annual Meeting 2015!
It was an amazing experience,
and I learned so much!
This organization within optometry
mainly focuses on the specialty of Vision Development / Vision Therapy.
In Texas, there are only 11 Fellows of COVD!
There were 5 students from our school that attended.
I was the only 1st year student from IAUPR,
and one of only a few from all schools.
I learned about all the new research about vision therapy
and learned more about amblyopia, traumatic brain injuries,
concussions, neuro diseases
and how vision therapy can help all of these!
They have new technology on iPads, video games, etc.,
that is fun for kids as well as adults
to use to help improve their vision for many different problems.
How cool is that?
The convention was hosted at the Bellagio,
which is where we stayed.
We had a little free time
where we walked the strip to the Venetian,
stopping and exploring along the way,
and went to Fremont street one night
to see the light show.
Overall, it was an awesome time,
and I learned a lot.
I'm back in Puerto Rico now
to finish up my 2nd semester of Optometry School,
and I will then have a couple classes this summer
before I am able to head back to the great state of Texas.
Can't wait to be back!
Please send lots of prayers for determination and motivation
for me to finish out this semester strong!
Thanks for the continued encouragement.
